Boy Scouts of America Prepared for Life

Bartle Summer Camp

Troop 395 will be making its annual journey to the H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation June 5-14, 2016. If you have not submitted your health forms and payments they are now overdue. Please contact Steve Eschbacher immediately to remit payments and supply health forms.

Youth Leadership Training

Mark calendars to attend Troop 395’s Individual Leadership Skills for Troops (ILST) training class. The course will be held Friday, June 17th and Saturday, June 18th at Pine Ridge Presbyterian Church. It is a pre-requisite for holding leadership positions within Troop 395 and also for the National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) conducted on the Council level. The Heart of America Council offers the NYLT course at Camp Naish every summer.  Unfortunately it is held during the first session at Bartle that Troop 395 attends.  In order to get credit for NYLT or Mic-O-Say, a Scout must be full-time camper at the corresponding session. Other options are available as several neighboring councils will conduct their NYLT training later in the summer. The information below can help your Scout make plans to attend a NYLT course.

Ozark Trails Council in Springfield – Course held 7/18-7/23. Cost is $235.00 and you must be registered by June 1. For more info go to

Pony Express Council in St. Joseph – Course held 7/25-7/30.  Cost is $175.00 and no registration date was given.  For more info go to

Great Rivers Council in Columbia – Course held 8/1-8/6.  Cost is $210.00 and you must register by July 1.  For more info go to

Cyber Chip

Today we are online more than ever before. We use technology to save us time with research, connect with others, navigate, and have fun. BSA rank advancement now requires Scouts to hold an active Cyber Chip. Troop 395 conducts comprehensive training to ensure that all scouts receive important instruction in online safety that culminates in the earning of the Cyber Chip card.

Memorial Day Flag Placement

The Scouts of Troop 395 have a long standing tradition of honoring God and Country through the placement of flags at local cemeteries in observation of the Memorial Day holiday. Scouts are to report to the American Legion in downtown Parkville at 7:30 am on Saturday, May 28th.
